One man is dead and his passenger injured after their vehicle was struck by a freight train at a railroad crossing in Arizona.
According to Pinal County Sheriff's Department officials, the two men were traveling toward the Interstate 10 frontage road at Camino Adelante when their pickup truck was hit by a train Friday afternoon. The railroad had no warning signals or gates at that crossing.
Police say the deceased driver appeared to be in his fifties. His name is being withheld pending notification of his family.
The passenger in the pickup truck is believed to be in his thirties and was transported via helicopter to University Medical Center in Tucson.
