A man is in critical condition after a rollover car accident on a West Valley freeway in Phoenix Monday

According to Arizona Department of Public Safety spokesperson Sergeant Tim Mayon, the man, believed to be in his twenties, was traveling north on State Road 101 near the Thomas Road intersection shortly before 1:00 p.m. Monday when the accident occurred. The man was reportedly not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, and was ejected from his vehicle when it began to roll.

It is unclear what caused the man's vehicle to flip, police say.

The man was transported by ambulance to St. Joseph's Hospital following the crash, police say. He is listed in critical condition.

Police could not comment on the nature of the man's injuries. The accident is still under investigation.

One person died Friday afternoon following a two-vehicle Phoenix truck accident.

According to officials with the Phoenix Police Department, a man died after a collision with an Armored truck Friday. A two-door Honda reportedly collided with a Brink's armored truck which was pulling out of a business parking lot near the intersection of Camelback Road and 47th Avenue.

The driver of the Honda was extricated by Phoenix Fire Department responders, and transported by ambulance to a local hospital. The man later died as a result of his injuries. The driver of the armored truck was not injured in the crash.

Police continue to investigate the cause of the accident. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash.

The identity of the victim has not been released by police.

Two men were injured Thursday when their motorcycle crashed into the back of a car on Interstate 17 in north Phoenix.

According to Phil Dyer of the Daisy Mountain Fire Department, the two men were on a motorcycle traveling at a high rate of speed, when it slammed into the back of a car in the northbound lanes of Interstate 17, north of Pioneer Road, shortly after 12:30 p.m. Both men are believed to be in their late teens or early twenties. 

Several witnesses reported that the motorcycle was following the car closely, Dyer said.

The two men were transported to nearby hospitals in critical condition, but are expected to make a full recovery. No other injuries were reported.

Two men were airlifted to a Valley hospital following an early-morning car accident Monday.

According to officials with the Valley Police Department, the accident occurred shortly before 7:00 a.m. when the driver of a Ford pickup lost control of his vehicle and rolled the truck into a ditch near State Route 347 and Riggs Road. 

According to Harold A. Sanders, spokesman for the Arizona Department of Public Safety, both the driver and a passenger sustained injuries in the crash and were transported via helicopter to a Valley hospital for treatment. Sanders said the reason for the loss of control by the driver has not been determined. The Arizona DPS was able to clear the scene of the wreckage in about 90 minutes.

The eastbound lanes of Interstate 10 between Casa Grande and Tucson were shut down after a fatal five-car accident Sunday afternoon.

According to a report released by the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the wreck occurred shortly before 1:00 p.m. Sunday at milepost 214, near Picacho State Park. Officials with the Arizona Highway Patrol said one person died due to injuries sustained in the crash, but police could not provide a description of the victim.

No other injuries were reported and authorities did not have a description of the five vehicles involved in the collision. 

Interstate 10 was closed until 4:30 p.m.

The Phoenix car crash was a shock to locals.

An Arizona woman was listed in critical condition Thursday after a car accident at K-254 and Webb Road.

According to officials with the Kansas Highway Patrol, 80 year-old Mary K. Johnson, of Sun City West, Arizona, was traveling northbound on Webb Road when her vehicle moved into the path of another Ford Escort. The Ford collided with Johnson's vehicle from the rear. 

Johnson was transported to Wesley Medical Center in critical condition. A passenger in Johnson's Town Car, 55 year-old Margaret A. Belin, was transported to Via Christi on St. Francis. The driver of the escort, 25 year-old Tyler J. Tryon, and his passenger, 27 year-old Robert L. Wentworth, were also taken to Via Christi on St. Francis, where they were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

A former Sierra Vista mayor has died following a traffic accident Monday. 

According to a release from the Arizona Department of Public Safety, 61 year-old Michael Schade was killed shortly after midnight Sunday morning in a three-vehicle crash on Interstate-10. Schade was returning to Sierra Vista from an Arizona Diamonbacks game when the fatal accident occurred, police say.

Officials with the Arizona Department of Public Safety said the drivers and passengers of the two other vehicles involved were uninjured. Police say the crash remains under investigation. 

Schade served as a Sierra Vista city councilman from 1979 to 1981 and as mayor from 1981 to 1983.
